Blog #7

In the handout titled “What is enterprise reporting," I learned a few things I found helpful. One of them was that reporters always tend to look for changes. A change , is considered  something new, which is what reporters write about. Also, reporters try to look for changes that occur over time, in other words a "trend." These changes or trends make great enterprise stories, considering the amount of information that could be gathered. This information will really help me out on my 6.6 exercise in a way of picking an angle for my story, this way I can be able to elaborate and include more detailed information.

I personally am not a fan of enterprise/investigative reporting because I don't think I have the patience for it. It is a very time consuming activity, and although it is a very interesting form of reporting, I don't feel very strong about my performance in this area.

Blog #6

For this blog post I came across the blog Lifehack.  I found this blog to be extremely helpful for a few reasons. This blog has tips on very interesting topics, for example, I really like the tip: sleep on it. This tip is something I can relate to in many ways especially when I have so  much to write about. I'm the type of person who likes to edit my writing as I go, sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's not. This tip advices you to wait at least one night, or preferably longer to start your editing. It's much better to approach your writing with a clear mind, that way we forget what we wrote and essentially just see what we have. I found this very useful because I tend to always think editing is more efficient as soon as you're done writing. This makes it difficult for me to organize my thoughts and not make much sense either, I would recommend reading this blog for anyone that goes through the same struggle!

Blog #5: Rachelle Gardner

After reading quite a few blogs, I came across Rachelle Gardner's blog who I thought was a great help.  Rachelle's blog includes personal experiences as a writer and also as an author's advocate. Rachelle and some of her guests bloggers give great tips and inspiration to old or new writers. Her work is found to be very useful and interesting as I shared it with some of my close friends and as a new blogger myself. One of the things I really like about her writing style is that as I am reading her blogs, I almost feel as if I am reading something my friend specifically wrote for me. There is a level of comfort and very genuine feedback.

A couple of tips I picked up from Rachelle Gardner's blog was to be myself when I write. It makes your reader much more comfortable and interested when you do. I will most definitely keep up and read more of her blogs from now on. I would recommend this blog to everyone!

Blog #4

For my post this week, I decided to go with writing exercise number 6!

Dear Alyssa,
Iv'e been super busy lately but I couldn't wait to tell you how crazy this past week has been for me. Working two jobs and going to school full time is harder than I thought! I barely even have time for anything! I am thinking about at least quitting one job and becoming a nanny instead. My friend Valerie is going to San Diego for nursing in August, and the family she baby-sits for needs another nanny to take over. I am  excited to possibly be the next nanny because the pay is really good and the two little girls I would watch are really sweet! Also, it would give me more time to do my homework, and relax. In the meantime,  I've been trying to pick up shifts at Levi's and at the Restaurant, considering the fact that I have to save up for our summer trip to EDC in June. I still need to get my flight as soon as possible because it's getting a little more expensive. We also need to go shopping for all of our outfits and start planning our days in Vegas.Speaking of, Iv'e really been trying to hit the gym lately and i think I've been making some progress which I'm ecstatic about.  Even though I am dead tired when I come home from work or from school, I always make time to go to the gym. My sister has been influenced by me, so now we go to the gym together. I also really wanted to tell you about the Giants tickets about this week against the Dodgers. I invited my dad to come along with me and I have an extra ticket so I was hoping you could come along with us too. I spoke to your mom and she told me you would be coming back from Santa Barbara next week, so I am excited to see you. Savannah is having a welcome home party next week as well so we can also go to that and see the rest of our friends! I miss you and see you soon.
